Chair, Research Committee, Ras Al Khaimah Campuses (RAKC), Higher Colleges of Technology

I am an Associate Professor of Computer Information Science at the Higher Colleges of Technology (HCT) in the United Arab Emirates. Since October 2026 I have chaired the Research Committee of the HCT Ras Al Khaimah Campuses (RAKC). The committee's purpose is to facilitate and enable faculty research through research culture and events, training and resources, and support for grants and collaboration.

My research applies machine learning to cybersecurity, digital forensics, hardware security and health care, with an emphasis on explainable and trustworthy artificial intelligence (AI). My publications include benchmark datasets for detecting machine-generated text and for multi-label chest X-ray classification, explainable models for clinical risk prediction, natural language processing for forensic text analysis, and nature-inspired methods for training and designing neural networks.

Before joining HCT in August 2026, I spent five years at Norwich University in Northfield, Vermont, United States. I was the Director of the Norwich University Artificial Intelligence (AI) Center from 2022 to July 2026 and a member of the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering from 2021, as Assistant Professor and, from 2026, Associate Professor with tenure. The Center, established with a U.S. Department of Education award of $3,999,980, funded faculty AI projects across the university, created internships and research opportunities for students, and built partnerships with U.S. research centers and with universities and military academies in France, Germany and Qatar.
