For our very first week, we were tasked with making a micro machine. For this, I teamed up with another student, Kyle Williams. We came up with the idea of having a small tank on a planet. The idea was intended on having a tank roll over a cute low poly planet and in doing so, knocking over a tree.
In this teams, I took the role of making a 3d model of a small planet. Due to the limited time frame we were on, I used a past 3d model of a tree that I thought fitted this project the most. The next step was to make the planet to which I got a standard sphere and made it an editable poly and applied a smooth modifier on. After this you use a pro-optimizer modifier and click calculate. Now I could make this sphere low poly.
Once I had got it to the right amount of faces I duplicated the sphere and made one ever so slightly bigger in order to make the land area stick out. On to the boring part, it was time to do some colouring. I went with some basic colours and individually select each part that was the sea and change the ID of selected faces.
Feedback
Time to show case our work!
we obviously needed to see if our work was worthy and if not, where could we improve?
When show casing we knew that we wasn't finished however the feedback that we got on an unfinished product was all around outstanding.
To keep it short and sweet, our main improvement would be our time management!
