1) Getting ready to install

What you'll need

• A TI-84 Plus series calculator: Plus/Plus SE, Plus C SE, Plus CE/CE-T or TI-83 Premium CE (equivalent to 84 Plus CE)
• A USB Mini-B to USB Standard A cable (to connect to your computer, should have came with your calculator)
• A Windows or MacOS device
• TI Connect™ CE Software

Setting up for the transfer

1. If you haven't yet, download and install TI Connect™ CE on your computer
2. Make sure your calculator is up to date
   1. Open the Memory Management menu with [2nd] [+]
   2. Press [enter] or [1] to open the About menu
   3. Look for the OS Version in the second line (Fig. 1.1)
      • As of August 2019, the latest version is 5.4 and the last update bringing changes to programs was 5.2. If you have anything older than 5.2.0, some programs may malfunction or not run at all ("ERROR: VERSION"). For help updating, see the heading below.
3. Go through the Programs list and download one (or more) that you would like install on your calculator
4. Some downloads may come as an archive, such as .ZIP. Extract them at this time. In some cases, you may need a program like 7-Zip to do this.

Updating your calculator's OS

Method 1: From your computer

1. Download the latest version of the OS from the Texas Instruments website
2. Plug in your calculator into your computer and open TI Connect™ CE
3. Right click on the calculator from the list or go to Actions and select "Send OS/Bundle to Calculator..." (Fig. 1.2)
4. Select the OS File from the File Explorer window
5. Confirm that you are ready to update your calculator and click "SEND" (Fig. 1.3)
6. Wait for the update to finish
7. Your calculator will confirm successful completion with a screen stating the OS version (Fig. 1.4)

Method 2: From another calculator

1. Connect the calculators to each other using the USB Mini-B to USB Mini-B cable
2. On the calculator you are updating, press [2nd] [x,T,θ,n] then [>] and [enter] to enter receiving mode (Fig. 1.5)
3. On the calculator you sending the OS from, press [2nd] [x,T,θ,n] then [^] and [enter] to send the OS (Fig. 1.6)
4. Wait for the update to finish
5. The updated calculator will confirm successful completion with a screen stating the OS version (Fig. 1.4)

2) Downloading and installing programs

Downloading individual programs to your calculator

Method 1: From your computer

1. If you haven't already, plug in your calculator into your computer and open TI Connect™ CE
2. Open the Calculator Explorer window from the left sidebar
3. If you have the folder with the program(s), you can select them and drag them into the TI Connect™ CE window
4. Otherwise, go to the Calculator Explorer tab (stack of papers, second button down) and click the "Add content from computer to connect calculator(s)" button in the top left corner (laptop with arrow going out) (Fig. 2.1).
   • Note: In version 5.3.5, the Calculator Explorer tab has been given a new icon and the names are no longer shown for any of them. If you are using an older version, the icon is a magnifying glass. The order has not changed.
5. Then, select the program(s) the File Explorer window then click "Open"
6. Confirm that you would like to send the programs and click "SEND" (Fig. 2.2)
7. Wait for the transfer to finish

Method 2: From another calculator

1. Connect the calculators to each other using the USB Mini-B to USB Mini-B cable
2. On the calculator you are sending the programs to, press [2nd] [x,T,θ,n] then [>] and [enter] to enter receiving mode (Fig. 2.3)
3. On the calculator you sending the programs from, press [2nd] [x,T,θ,n] and then [3] (Fig. 2.4)
4. Use the [^] and [v] arrow keys to highlight the program(s) you'd like to send and press [enter] to select them
5. Press [>] and [enter] to begin the transfer, then wait for it to finish (Fig. 2.5)
6. Press [2nd] [mode] on both calculators to exit transfer mode

Downloading program groups to your calculator

Some programs may contain multiple files that are sent as a single Group file (think of a .ZIP file on computers).

Method 1: From your computer

1. If you haven't already, plug in your calculator into your computer and open TI Connect™ CE
2. Open the Calculator Explorer window from the left sidebar
3. If you have the folder with the Group files(s), you can select them and drag them into the TI Connect™ CE window
4. Otherwise, click the "Add content from computer to connect calculator(s)" button in the top left corner (laptop with arrow going out) (Fig. 2.1)
5. Then, select the group files(s) the File Explorer window then click "Open"
6. Confirm that you would like to send the groups and click "SEND" (Fig. 2.2)
7. Wait for the transfer to finish

Method 2: From another calculator

1. Connect the calculators to each other using the USB Mini-B to USB Mini-B cable
2. On the calculator you are sending the programs to, press [2nd] [x,T,θ,n] then [>] and [enter] to enter receiving mode (Fig. 2.3)
3. On the calculator you sending the programs from, press [2nd] [x,T,θ,n] and then [^] twice to select Group... (Fig. 2.6)
4. Use the [^] and [v] arrow keys to highlight the Group(s) you'd like to send and press [enter] to select them
5. Press [>] and [enter] to begin the transfer, then wait for it to finish (Fig. 2.5)
6. Press [2nd] [mode] on both calculators to exit transfer mode

Ungrouping the files

1. On your calculator, press [2nd] [+] to open the Memory menu (Fig. 2.7)
2. Then, press [8] and [>] to open the Ungroup menu
3. Use the [^] and [v] arrow keys to highlight the Group you'd like to send and press [enter] to select it
   • If you are attempting to ungroup multiple Groups, you will have to do them individually
4. Wait for the process to finish, then press [2nd] [mode] to exit ungroup mode.
