Overview:
As an Information Developer at IBM, I was exposed to a wide range of technical writing concepts at various stages of the documentation lifecycle. While most of our work consisted of writing and maintaining the Connections Cloud knowledge base during a continuous delivery cycle, IBM is a legacy company, with a suite of older products to prove it. These would often need a "final release" update before being archived.
A highlight of my time at IBM is participating in Design Thinking Workshops, where I had the opportunity to share sticky notes with leadership, developers, and designers. We worked together to define a visual design language for our department and create mock-up sites to show proof of concept.
Highlights:
Updated, tested, published, and packaged translated material on a continuous delivery cycle.
Developed a new set of core principles, a fresh voice, and a unified tone to apply across the entire product suite.
Streamlined help with updated icons and screenshots.
Created scenarios and mock-ups to illustrate features.
Assisted front-end developers with implementing "just in time" help pop-ups.
