Parent Volunteer Definitions and Expectations:
Coaches: Coaches are critical to running a soccer club. You do not need to be a skilled soccer player to coach. In fact, you don't need to play soccer at all to coach very young children. You do need to be committed to your responsibility, and attend every practice and game prepared to coach for the full practice or game time. You do need to work well with children, including having a good measure of patience and understanding.
We provide a training and manual for coaches so you will know what to do. All coaches will have assistant coaches to work with, so no one will be coaching alone.
Assistant Coaches: You will be an assistant to the coaches on the field every week during practices and games. The club will provide goals, cones, pinnies and extra balls for each team. This equipment will need to be on the field for every practice and game. You will take the equipment home (feel free to leave it in the back of your car during the week), wash the pinnies, and bring it to the field and set it up every week. You will be a sub for the coach if they are absent.
Team Parents: The team parents support the coaches and are on the field every week. You will be responsible for organizing snacks for the games, organizing a simple end of season party, and organizing thank-you cards for the coaches. The club will provide mementos for all the players and coaches at the end of the season. Snacks will not be provided by the club, so the team parents will delegate these assignments among the parents of the players. You need to read and send email every week. You will be a sub for the assistant coach if they are absent.
Babysitters: Children age 5 and older will be placed on teams. Children under the age of 5 will need to be watched on the field by responsible adults. If the parents of young children are coaching or assisting teams, their children will need to be watched by other parents. The babysitters will need to be prepared to care for the young ones and provide things for them to do for an hour and a half each week.
Field Set Up/Take Down/Field Monitors: Two needed. Arrive a little early and stay a little late. Set up and take down the port-a-field lines and large goals for the U13 grass field each week. Keep port-a-field and goals in your car.
Field Medic: One needed. Be present on the field with the babysitters with a good first aid kit, including ice packs.
