Hi everyone! My name is Alejandra and I'm attending 4th-year subjects. I cannot attend all of them together because of my job (I work for a bank, in the customer service department in the afternoons and I deliver some private lessons to adults mainly) but if everything goes according to my plan, I'm going to graduate next year. I hope so!
I live with my mum, my sister and our two dogs, Zac & Mía. I started my course of study in 2018. Up to 2017, I studied medicine but after my dad passed away, I realized that the degree was not what I wanted for me and my life and that I love teaching. I decided to change degrees and now I’m really happy here! :)
As regards my teaching experience, I do not work in a school but I have delivered private lessons for some years now. I started those lessons in a face-to-face environment but because of the pandemic, I was forced -like all of us- to adapt my lessons to an online format. My experience with Education technology from 2020 onwards was really good. I’ve learned a lot of new tools, apps, and websites to work with as a teacher and also as a student. I learned that we can teach through different platforms such as Zoom, Meet, and Skype effectively if we are willing to listen to others and continue learning. It was not that easy at the beginning, I had to rethink my lessons and find alternatives to some activities but I managed to continue as all teachers did. I’m still learning and to my mind, I need to improve and gain more knowledge on the subject.
From this subject, I expect to broaden my knowledge and understanding of what technology we can use in education. I hope to learn new tools and resources, share mine, and be part of a community of educators in which we can learn from each other and of course, from our teacher. I also expect to learn how to use in a better way the tools that I already know. Apart from that, I expect to learn different strategies to engage students in an online environment, especially children since I don’t have much experience with them online.
I share this image because to me it sums up the role of technology in my life. It is a fabulous world, an excellent tool to study, work, look for information, etc. Also, to plan leisure-time activities, communicate with family and friends in a great variety of ways (Zoom, WhatsApp, social media) or deliver and attend lessons.
The purpose of this PLE (Personal Learning Environment) is to record and assess my progress in the subject ICT throughout 2023 at INPST - UTN.
Thanks for reading! :)
