Web 1.0 Sites & Evaluation, using the guidelines suggested by Dudeney & Hockly (2007)
Level: Elementary. 4th form - primary school.
Theme: describing sports
Final task: writing a brochure of the activities/sports that a sports centre offers for children to do during summer holidays. Presenting (in small groups) the information in the brochure so the rest of the class decides what activity to do during their summer holidays.
The students will be divided into small groups, each one will focus on a sport of their choosing. The groups will have to gather and organize information regarding the chosen sport. Once they collect everything necessary, they will design and write a brochure which will later be shared with their mates. During the last lesson of this unit of work, each group will have to orally present what they have come up with and simulate they are offering a service to customers. The class will listen to each offer and at the end of the lesson decide which sport to hire for their summer holidays.
Unit objectives: during the unit students will develop ability and knowledge necessary to:
a. Look for information on the internet about the sport or the sports of their interest.
b. Write a simple and clearly organized brochure describing a sport.
c. Give information orally describing a sport using the vocabulary learnt.
d. Ask questions necessary to find out information about a sport.
