I got a Master in Economics from the University of Cassino (Italy) in 2000, grade: 110/110 cum laude.
Then, I enrolled in the PhD in Economics at the University of Pisa (Italy), getting the doctoral degree in 2005 with a thesis on "The Economy as a Complex System and the Heterogeneous Interacting Agent Models" (supervisors: Carlo Bianchi and Mauro Gallegati).
In the following years, I worked as a post-doc at the Università Politecnica delle Marche, Ancona (supervisor: Mauro Gallegati) and at the Scuola Normale Superiore, Pisa (supervisor: Marcello de Cecco).
At the end of 2008, I started working as Assistant Professor in Economics at the Università Politecnica delle Marche, where in 2018 I became Associate Professor.
In 2019 I won a competition called by the Spanish government and I got a position as Beatriz Galindo Distinguished Researcher at the Department of Economics of the Universitat Jaume I in Valencian Community. I held this position until 2023.
From the autumn of 2023 on, I am Full Professor of Economics at the Università Politecnica delle Marche. Currently, I am also Distinguished Professor at Universitat Jaume I (Spain).
Starting from the doctoral thesis, I worked on agent-based macroeconomics focussing on the following topics: financial factors and the real economy, financial fragility and systemic risk, macroeconomic effects of inequality. I also touched other fields as experimental economics.
