On the 23rd October 2015 hundreds of people gathered on Tower Bridge Road to witness the unveiling of the Albert McKenzie Memorial
the Deputy Lieutenant for the London Borough of Southwark read a message from HM The Queen
Guests included Vice-Admiral Sir Frederick Donald Gosling, the Mayor of Bermondsey and the Mayor of Southwark
The guest speakers were: Admiral Lord West, former First Sea Lord and Chief of the Naval Staff, Sir Simon Hughes MP for Bermondsey, Carl Dealuwé the Governor of West Flanders in Belgium, Paul Keefe chief fundraiser and Colin McKenzie, Albert's great nephew who spoke on behalf of the family
The Royal Navy provided a guard of honour and the WW2 cruiser HMS Belfast fired a 21 gun salute from its mooring on the River Thames
A 21-gun salute on the HMS Belfast also took place in memory of the sailor.
