As part of the remembrance of the sacrifice of the First World War, The Department of Communities and Local Government (DCLG) announced in August 2013, a campaign to honour all Victoria Cross (VC) recipients. Commemoration paving stones will be laid in or as close to the birth place of Victoria Cross recipients over the four year period of the 100th anniversary to remember the act of valour which led to the award.
