Francis Buckley, Victoria McKenzie and Commander Derek Anthony at the British Embassy in Washington DC
Following his death in 1918 Albert's VC passed to his mother and then to his eldest brother Donald who had emigrated to the USA. It then passed down two generations to his great nephew Don McKenzie who asked his sister Victoria and her husband Francis Buckley to deliver it to the British Embassy in Washington so the Naval Attache Commander Derek Anthony RN could deliver it by hand to Diana Condell, curator of medals at the Imperial War Museum in London on long term loan
