I'm Aishwarya and I have always been an introvert- drawing energy from solitude. I had severe social anxiety. But, this never fazed me. I had my sports, arts and, an itch to learn something new. To me, this was the perfect combo: work on my skills, all by myself. Yet, I was never complete. I've always wanted to create- create something which has value and is impactful.
The motto of SECIP was, "Get ready to be comfortable in being uncomfortable." Well, long story short, mission accomplished. Barely halfway into day one, and bam- a Chat Roulette! Interact with random people across the Indo-Pacific. With over 200 participants and entering multiple chat rooms? Well, that was one hell of an ice-breaker. It set the tone for what was expected and prep you for what was ahead.
Well, I'm not saying I'm an extrovert now. Of course not! I am an introvert and I embrace that! But, I am no longer a socially awkward butterfly. Throughout the 2-week intensive program, I could see myself gaining more confidence and welcoming uncertainty in a social environment. This, for me, is a huge win and a sign of great personal growth. This takes me one step closer to realising my dream of being a Social Entrepreneur.
