Hello! My name is Genesis Gorre. I was born and raised in Cebu, Philippines. I'm the eldest son and I have 3 younger sisters in my family. My family moved to Los Angeles, California back in 2003. Some of my hobbies include playing basketball, watching old school movies, playing board games, traveling and sightseeing, fishing, and collecting fridge magnets from my travels.
Many people join the Air Force for various reasons. It could be for education, career, job security, travel, being part of something bigger, serve the country, or family tradition. My reason was I had no direction in life after I completed my Associates degree. I went to a 4 year college right after high school. I decided to quit after my first year because I realized that college was not for me. The tuition cost was too much; $8,000 per year. I did not want to be in debt after 4 years. So, I went to a community college and worked part time instead. My decision to join the Air Force was I want to give it a try and see how it goes; this was my plan C. My plan A was go back to school and Plan B was to continue working.
When I talked to the Air Force recruiter (SSgt Dustin Parsons) in my hometown, I told him that I was willing to take any job in the Air Force and ready to leave anytime. My process went pretty smooth and I was off to Basic Military Training (BMT) after 3 months. I joined as a "quick ship" which means that I was willing to leave for BMT ASAP. So, I did not found out my job until during BMT. My BMT experience was definitely unforgettable. I had an awesome time and learned so much. I became more disciplined and a better person overall.
My Air Force journey has been amazing and wonderful. My job before I was a recruiter was Avionics Test Station & Components (2A071K). My first base was Spangdahlem AB, Germany. I was there for 3.5 years and loved every single moment. Then I moved to McGuire Air Force Base in New Jersey. I was there for about 3 years. The only one thing I would have done differently is I wish I joined the Air Force right after high school. I joined about 3 years after high school. At the end of the day, I made a great decision in joining and have changed my life for the better! I will definitely make a career in the Air Force. I'm committed to serve at least 20 years!
Here I am now in Port Huron, Michigan as a recruiter. My job is not only as a recruiter but as a career advisor and mentor to you. I want to make a difference in your life and put you in the Air Force. Whatever your reasons or needs, let me help and guide you to see if the Air Force could fulfill them!
