About AIMS
The Association of Independent Michigan Schools (AIMS) was founded in 1989 to be an educational and professional community for schools that meet its membership standards. To be considered independent, a school must be not-for-profit, be governed by its own Board of Trustees, and not be reliant on government funding for support. Independent schools foster critical thinking, intellectual rigor, and a mission driven, child centered educational experience for students and teachers.
