Introduction to Newton-Schwarz methods

The class of Newton-Schwarz methods is the combination of Schwarz preconditioning with Newton's method to accelerate convergence. The goal is to create a nonlinear preconditioner that is parallelizable with quadratic convergence. However, the combination can be unstable, and analysis is limited. This talk explores Schwarz preconditioning as a fixed point iteration and the effects on this iteration caused by Newton's method.
