Standing with good posture is considered a straight back position, the chest is pushed out and the shoulders are back and the legs are straight. The head should be upright.
The load on the spine in the standing position is about 100 kg. In the right position, the back can withstand a different load, but when there are changes in posture, the load increases many times. For example, if the head moves about 3 cm to the front of the plumb line, a weight of 15 kilograms is applied to the muscles of the back of the cervical spine. Excessive load in a bad upright position causes, among other things, osteoarthritis. [3]
Head as an extension of the spine, ear in line
Look ahead at the horizon
Gentle bow in the neck
Round sternum
Shoulder in a straight line and shoulders at the same level
Gentle sag in the lower back
Pelvis in a straight line and at the same level
Knees slightly bent and in a straight line
Ankle lump in line
Weight evenly on the sole of the foot over the three points
When the different parts of the body are in the right alignment in relation to each other, the posture is relaxed. Functional and structural factors affect posture. The most common functional factor is posture, i.e. the position in which you are used to being and moving.

One of the important goals of ballet is to create the illusion of lightness, fluidity and elegance. In order for this to be possible, you need to know how to find the right body position - the so-called dancer's posture.
Support is the lengthening of the entire spine from the bottom of the coccyx (os coccygis) up to the atlas joint. If this is done correctly, both the muscles of the front legs and the abdominal muscles are activated automatically, so that the knees are extended and the pelvis is aligned in the correct position. The pelvis must not turn downward, i.e. into hyperlordosis, but also not in the other direction, as if "under" itself. In English, the name "tuck under" is used for this event.
