Before I moved to New York, I lived in a suburb outside of Cleveland, Ohio. While I was there, a popular deed to do on the weekends was attend the Ronald McDonald House in the city, which is a charity home for families with someone in a hospital. One weekend during my sophomore year of high school, I decided to take the thirty-minute car ride up to the house with my mom. When there, we cooked and served breakfast to the families staying at the establishment. After seeing the wonderful smiles grow across the faces of the people we served, my love for cooking began to grow likewise.Â
I began cooking around the house more often, both for myself and even for my family at times. In conjunction, I visited the Ronald McDonald House several more times, even sharing the joy with some friends I convinced to come along. All in all, I believe attending the house for the very first time made just as much as an impact on the people I served as it did me. It's like Isaac Newton once said, "for every action in nature there is an equal and opposite reaction".
