Bio

Yun-Jeong Hwang was appointed as the Director of the UN Women Knowledge and Partnerships Centre in the Republic of Korea in July 2025. With over 25 years of experience in advancing gender equality, she has played a pivotal role in shaping and innovating national policies to empower women and protect their rights in the Republic of Korea.

Prior to joining UN Women, Ms. Hwang served in the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family, the lead government agency responsible for policies on women, youth, and families. She led the development of Korea’s first Basic Plan for the Prevention of Violence against Women and was instrumental in strengthening legal and institutional frameworks to combat online sexual exploitation. She also provided substantial support for the establishment and early operation of the UN Women Centre of Excellence for Gender Equality in 2022.

Ms. Hwang brings deep policy expertise and practical knowledge in key areas such as ending violence against women and girls, promoting work-life balance, and responding to growing care needs.

She holds a Master’s degree in Public Administration from the University of Washington and a Bachelor's degree from Seoul National University.

황윤정 소장은 25년 동안 여성의 역량과 여성의 인권을 강화하는 대한민국의 성평등 정책을 혁신적으로 발전시키는데 기여했습니다. 황윤정 소장은 대한민국의 여성, 청소년, 가족과 관련과 관련된 정책을 담당하는 여성가족부에서 근무했습니다. 특히, 여성 권익 보호와 관련하여 여성폭력방지를 위한 기본계획을 최초로 수립하고, 온라인 성착취에 대응하는 법과 제도를 강화하는데 주도적인 역할을 했습니다. 또한 2022년 유엔 성평등센터 설립과 초기 정착을 위해 많은 지원을 하였습니다.

황윤정 소장은 여성과 소녀에 대한 폭력 근절, 일과 삶의 균형, 돌봄 수요 확대에 대한 대응을 위한 전문적인 지식과 정책적 경험을 소유하고 있습니다.

황윤정 소장은 University of Washington에서 행정학 석사, 서울대학교에서 학사를 취득했습니다.
