Bio

Hyunsoo Cho is currently an Assistant Professor in the Department of Artificial Intelligence at Ewha Womans University, Seoul, Korea. Prior to this, he was a Postdoctoral Researcher at Seoul National University and a Visiting Researcher at NAVER, where he contributed to the HyperCLOVA X project. He received the Ph.D. degree in computer science and engineering from Seoul National University in 2023. His research interests include NLP and machine learning, with particular focus on foundation models, anomaly detection, and self-supervised learning. He has worked on alignment learning (instruction tuning, RLHF), reasoning enhancement in large language models, response-level uncertainty estimation, and knowledge interaction between parametric and non-parametric memory. His recent research explores permanent unlearning in LLMs, distributional shift, and robust behavior in retrieval-augmented generation systems. He is actively involved in the NLP research community, serving as a reviewer and program committee member for major conferences including ACL, EMNLP, NAACL, and AAAI.

조현수 교수는 현재 이화여자대학교 인공지능학과에서 조교수로 재직중이다. 서울대학교에서 컴퓨터공학 박사학위를 취득한 후, 서울대학교에서 박사후연구원으로, NAVER에서 방문연구원으로 활동하며 HyperCLOVA X 프로젝트에 참여하였다. 주요 연구 분야는 자연어처리(NLP)와 머신러닝이며, 파운데이션 모델, 이상 탐지, 자기지도 학습에 특히 관심을 가지고 있다. 최근에는 대규모 언어모델(LLM)의 정렬 학습(instruction tuning, RLHF), 추론 능력 향상, 응답 수준 불확실성 추정, 파라메트릭 및 비파라메트릭 메모리 간의 지식 상호작용 등을 주제로 연구하고 있으며, 언러닝(unlearning), 분포 변화 대응, RAG 기반 시스템의 견고한 동작을 위한 기법들도 탐구 중이다. 또한 ACL, EMNLP, NAACL, AAAI 등 주요 국제 학회에서 리뷰어 및 프로그램 위원으로 활발히 활동하고 있다.
