Ahsha lives in Brooklyn with her parents Debarati and Sudarshan, who have careers in social justice and sustainability sectors, respectively. Her parents are first generation immigrants to the United States and dedicated citizens.
Ahsha dealt with the stresses that the Covid Crisis has created. She stepped up to help the family more. For example, she went grocery shopping independently and brought back as much as she could carry. Through it all, she kept steady, made her family and friends smile and laugh, kept focused on her schoolwork and made strides in her activities. Ahsha is learning the importance of being resilient and kind during difficult times.
At home, Ahsha helps take care of the family’s two beloved 16 year old cats, Bubu and Numnum, who have ailments that need daily attention.
Ahsha and her parents love to garden, cook, camp and take trips and travel.
Every year (except during the pandemic), since the age of 7 months, Ahsha has visited India with her parents to see family, especially her adoring grandparents, and experience the country's culture.
We have shared dance, cuisine, and customs from India with others in Brooklyn. We are an open minded and enthusiastic family, eager to contribute to the further enrichment of the culture of Ahsha's school community.

Prior to the Covid Crisis, Ahsha’s family loved to travel. On trips to new countries like Nicaragua, Ahsha engaged in wanting to understand the culture, social dynamics and nature. She asked questions about what she saw and didn’t understand.
