Over 200 years ago, abolitionist newspapers focused on ending slavery. Now, as the only abolitionist newspaper, we know there’s still so much work to be done and more conversations to be had. We need to reframe what it means for everyone to be free—and we mean everyone. Freedom for our children to grow up safe, heard, and loved. Freedom for those who will come after us and continue what we’ve started. Emancipation should not be contained to the single moment when Lincoln signed a proclamation. Emancipation is then, now, and forever. #ReframeTheConversation

But there’s also power in peace, when we can go home, set down our bags, and unwind. This, too, is freedom. Freedom to do the things we love with the ones we love.
