The assignment this week was about 3D design. I was really looking forward for this because i always wanted to learn how to make 3D designs. it is really inspiring because you can create any thing that comes to your imagination, and your freedom of creation is limitless
This week we used INKscape and Fusion 360 they are both used for creating 3D design.
I also used instructables.com, Thingiverse and youtube for references and inspiration
we also used the catapult model
First i made a sketch in my notebook of my design, then i made a cardboard model, after that i used fusion 360 to make my design. after sketching i extruded the sketches into 3D models to simulate them, then i imported them as a DXF file to be ready for laser cutting
i imported the DXF file into laserworks and adjusted the laser cutting speed to 23 and power to 65%
i helped some friends use fusion 360 one of the problems was how to use mirroring properly, some of my friends helped me with fusion i didn't know how to combine two sketches and and sometimes joins didn't work
I faced a lot of challenges and problems this week while learning fusion 360
and i manged to fix a lot of them. they were mostly things i didn't know how they worked and some of them where random and i don't know how to fix them, the biggest one was when all my files disappeared in the middle of the week and to fix that just remember to always save your files, there were others that i shared in the video
Now i know how to start the designing process of my final project and have a rough idea of the steps i need to take to design it, now i know how easy or hard and how much time it takes to make certain designs
when i learned 3D designs i started to appreciate actual designers and engineers whose jops are to make new designs on a daily biases and i know how hard and time consuming their jops are, but at the same time i understood that 3D design isn't that hard so any normal person can just start designing any time they want
