Ideation

Tell us about your assignment's idea for this week. Why do you care about this idea? What were you inspired by?

This weeks assignment was to find a 3D design and run it through prusaSlicer so that i print it in the lab. the 3D printing was amazing it is satisfying to see a digital design to printed into the real life

Tool Chain

Which software/machines/materials did you use this week? Why?

For the software, we used prusaSlicer and laser work.

for the machines, we used the 3D printer and the laser cutter

Design Process

Explain the design process of your assignment. How did you use the tool/software to design and/or simulate your assignment?

I searched for a 3D design on sketchfab.com and stlfinder.com for a 3D design I liked, then I ran it through prusaSlicer to get the gcode

for the fab logo, I used laser works to prepare the DXF file to be cut by the laser cutter, I highlighted the lines to be cut (power 60%, speed 25) and to be scanned (power 20%,speed 300)

Fabrication/Implementation Process

Explain the fabrication/implementation process of your assignment. How did you use the machine/tool to manufacture or implement the design of your assignment?

I used the gcode i got from PrucsaSlicer and put it on an SD card,

first you prepare the 3D printer by setting the temperature for PLA and then you insert the PLA

for the laser cutter you upload the file from laser works to the laser cutter and let it cut

i made a mistake while using laser works where i uploaded a file instead of importing it, you can avoid that by making sure that you clearly understand the steps you need to do in the project

How can you use the skills and knowledge that you've acquired this week in your final project?

Now i understand some of the limitations of 3d printing and the process of turning your destine into a 3d print

What is the coolest thing that you've learned this week? What is something that you will never forget from this week?

The laser cutter was really cool. Parts of the 3D printer casing were 3D printed.
