The Core Architectural Scenario
This workflow exercise explores Option A — Concept Design Workflow. The core objective is to answer the fundamental question: "How can AI support architectural thinking and workflow?" rather than simply tallying how many different applications can be used.
The project, titled The Eldritch Sanatorium, is an avant-garde architectural provocation situated within the heavy monsoon climate of Padang Tengku, Pahang. The design scenario intentionally merges 19th-century Victorian Gothic Revival armature with pre-human Cyclopean masonry. By pushing artificial intelligence into bizarre, Lovecraftian creative territories, this experiment rigorously tests the boundaries of machine imagination against the mandatory discipline of human architectural judgment.

In real architectural practice, workflows involve multiple platforms, stages, and continuous decision-making; architects do not simply generate outputs, they orchestrate systems. The sequence below maps the multi-agent system logic used to conceptualize the Sanatorium, moving deliberately from raw data to visual synthesis.
Step 1: Contextual Grounding (Research Layer)
AI Tool Used: Perplexity.
Purposeful Usage: Chosen to anchor the avant-garde concept in physical and historical reality. Perplexity acted as a research engine to extract verifiable tectonic precedents (Mycenaean polygonal masonry, Victorian Gothic verticality) rather than relying on random usage or AI hallucinations.
Step 2: Cognitive Triangulation (Narrative Layer)
AI Tools Used: Claude vs. ChatGPT.
Purposeful Usage: Two language models were pitted against each other to test different interpretations of the structural rules. Claude anchored the phenomenological spatial poetry, while ChatGPT isolated tectonic materialism and load-bearing weight.
Step 3: Visual Synthesis (Generative Layer)
AI Tool Used: Gemini Engine.
Purposeful Usage: Utilized to translate the highly engineered text concepts into visual massing and material studies, successfully generating the dark, atmospheric exterior volumes and petrified structural reliefs.
Step 4: Human Judgment (The Architect's Filter)
Tool: Human Architectural Cognition.
Purposeful Usage: AI assists the workflow, but architects remain responsible for decisions. This critical gatekeeping phase involved manually auditing the generative outputs for spatial and structural validity, actively identifying and rejecting AI-generated physical anomalies.
