On February 7th, I interviewed Priscilla A. Ramirez. We went to Starbucks because we have different tastes in refreshments. Priscilla can not go a day without coffee and I like a simple hot chocolate. If the audio sounds off, we were in a public location and had to work around our environment. For starters I chose Priscilla to interview because I made plenty of friends in high school, but I only stayed in contact with a handful. Priscilla being one of them. I will be asking her a series of questions so that my audience could have a clearer understanding of why she is a close friend of mine.
After the interview I felt that I knew more about Priscilla and had a better understanding of how she views the world. She was very open with the fact that no one is perfect but that everyone goes through life with a numerous amount of ups and downs. Priscilla goes over important events in her life and how that influenced the roles she plays in society. One of the many roles Priscilla has is being the oldest of five and when I asked her about it she said, " My siblings see me as a third parent when they need help or a go too". Priscilla has one sister and three brothers. She enjoys taking care of her little siblings and being there for them. I am the youngest in my family so I find it interesting that because Priscilla is the oldest she is not just a big sister but like a mini parnet. Someone that her siblings can come to when they want to talk about a topic her parents might not understand. Overall, Priscilla plays many roles in life but one that that came naturally to her was being an example for younger children.
My friend is not just known for being the oldest of five, people also describe her as a smart, caring person who puts family and friends first. She always understood that her parents had many responsibilities and as the oldest she had to step up. Both of Priscilla's parents worked growing up so she was responsible for getting the kids fed, changed and off to school every morning. Priscilla is 20 years old and her siblings are now 15, 13, 7, and 5 years old. You see she is not just one or two years apart from her brothers and sister so she needed to set the example as a promising member of society. In other words, whatever priscilla did her siblings did. Priscilla goes on to say, " I love that I am the third parent but I know it's not for everybody,". To me my friend is a leader not a follower. However, Priscilla knew nothing comes easy in life and you have to work hard to get what you want in life.
As I got to know Priscilla in my later years of high school I realized she was a special individual. She was passionate about things she cared about and educated herself to have a better understanding of things she was not exposed to as a child. She has always been a positive person and has guided me in some important decisions. She constantly puts others' needs over her own and wants to see others succeed with her. In Priscilla's eyes other people are not the competition they are just trying to figure out life with her. That showed me how good of a person she is and was a main reason I chose her to interview. The main thing Priscilla pushes people on is education. She wants people to achieve both socially and academically. Priscilla enjoys helping other people and that makes her a special individual.
Priscilla would describe herself as a " hard working person that is dedicated to school". She took a sip of her favorite coffee and continued to describe herself. As she was talking I thought to myself " I learned a lot just in this short time". There were things that I didn't know about her and now I do. I see my closest friend as a hard working, caring, independent, and intelligent person. In my point of view, I believe she’s on the right path to success.
Priscilla is a caring person and always thinks about others. She joined me by drinking her favorite coffee at called Starbucks, that we usually do our homework at. Priscilla is on the right path to success in life, and knowing she is doing great makes me happy. Overall, she a great person that everyone can look up too and I believe she would be perfect for this writing assignment. It's that I don't know her as much as we use to thus, this assignment got to know her even more and we got the chance to catch up. From me knowing many people has plenty of obstacles in their life it does matter if you are living different. "At the end of the day look back at yourself and see what you have accomplished" said Priscilla. When she was helping me when I lost an important person in my life.
"I always wanted to be a teacher my whole life" said Priscilla, just from that you can get and understanding of how she is. Priscilla enjoys teaching kids and sees herself becoming a teacher since she was a little kid. She dreamed of becoming a teacher it's a path she wanted to go in and a field she loves the most. Priscilla plans to major in special education and continues till this day becoming a teacher. Helping young kids always been heartwarming for her moreover, she will be a successful teacher.
To wrap all of this up, I don’t believe I would’ve been the person who I am today without her. Because she helped me find what I can become a respiratory therapist. Coming out of high school my plan wasn’t as bright she courage me to find something I loved. That’s what happened and till this day after couple years later I haven’t changed my mind since. Priscilla is a mentor in a way and a person that can guide you and someone to motivate you to become better at it. Many other people can see it in a different perspective, but in my eyes, I see a person that cares for others. Overall, I see her a role model a person I can look up too. Because she’s on the right road to success and she has no plan of slowing down anytime soon.
