FLOPPY FREEFALL PRIVACY POLICY
Effective date: 29 September 2026
Floppy Freefall ("the game", "we", "us") is a mobile game made by {{DEVELOPER_NAME}}. This policy explains what information the game collects, why, who it is shared with, and how you can delete it. If you have questions, email {{CONTACT_EMAIL}}.
THE SHORT VERSION
- You can play without creating an account or giving us your name or email.
- We keep your game progress (coins, level, unlocked items, best scores) so it can be backed up and restored.
- Leaderboards show a random player name such as "Diver4821", or your Google Play Games name if you use Play Games leaderboards, together with your score.
- We use Google Firebase to run the game online, count how the game is played and find crashes.
- We do not sell your data.
- You can delete your account and cloud data at any time in Settings > Delete account.
1. INFORMATION WE COLLECT
Information created when you play
When you first open the game, it signs you in anonymously with Firebase Authentication. This creates a random account ID that is not linked to your name or email. Linked to that ID, we store your game profile:
- a random player name (for example "Diver4821")
- coins, experience points, level, best score, best depth, number of runs and sessions
- the skins, parachutes and trails you own and have equipped, and the levels you have unlocked
- your daily login streak, best weekly leaderboard rank, and when the profile was created and last updated
Leaderboards
When you finish a run, your score may be sent to a leaderboard. A leaderboard entry contains your player name, score, depth reached and equipped skin. Leaderboard entries can be seen by other players.
If the game uses Google Play Games Services for leaderboards, your Play Games profile name and avatar are shown instead, and Google handles that data under its own privacy policy (https://policies.google.com/privacy).
If you choose to link a Google account
Linking a Google account is optional. It lets you restore your progress on a new phone. If you link one, Firebase Authentication receives the basic profile information Google shares with sign-in apps: your email address, name and profile picture. We use this only to sign you in and to show which account is linked in Settings. We do not put your email or real name on leaderboards, and we do not email you.
Usage and diagnostics data
We use Google Analytics for Firebase to understand how the game is played so we can balance and improve it. It records game events, for example:
- a run started or ended, with score, depth, run length and what ended it
- a tutorial was completed
- a mission reward was claimed
- a cosmetic item was bought with in-game coins
- you levelled up
- you changed the control setting
- you viewed a leaderboard
Firebase also collects some information automatically: an app instance ID, device model, operating system version, app version, language, approximate country or region (worked out from your IP address), and session information. Firebase may also collect your device's advertising ID. You can reset or delete your advertising ID in your Android settings.
We use Firebase Crashlytics to find and fix crashes. When the game crashes or hits an error, Crashlytics sends the error details, device model, operating system version, available memory and storage, and a random installation ID.
We use Firebase Remote Config to adjust game settings such as prices and rewards without an app update. It uses a random Firebase installation ID.
Information that stays on your phone
Some data is stored only on your device and never sent to us:
- your settings (controls, sensitivity, volume, vibration, graphics quality, language)
- your recent run history and the steering inputs from each run
- a copy of your profile for offline play
The game reads your phone's motion sensor (accelerometer) so you can steer by tilting. The readings are used on the spot to move your character. They are not recorded or sent anywhere, apart from the run inputs kept on your phone as described above.
What we do not collect
We do not collect your precise location, contacts, photos, microphone or camera. We do not ask for your phone number. We do not collect payment card details. There are no ads or real-money purchases in the game at the moment. If we add them, we will update this policy first.
2. HOW WE USE INFORMATION
- To run the game: save and restore your progress, sync it across devices, and show leaderboards.
- To improve the game: balance difficulty and rewards, and find which features are used.
- To keep the game working: find and fix crashes and errors.
- To keep leaderboards fair: detect scores or coin totals that look impossible.
We do not use your data to make automated decisions that have legal or similarly significant effects on you.
3. WHO WE SHARE INFORMATION WITH
We share information only with the service providers that run the game for us, and only as described in this policy:
- Google Firebase (Authentication, Cloud Firestore, Analytics, Crashlytics, Remote Config): accounts, cloud saves, leaderboards, analytics, crash reports and game settings. Policy: https://firebase.google.com/support/privacy
- Google Play Games Services: leaderboards. Policy: https://policies.google.com/privacy
- Google Sign-In (optional): linking a Google account. Policy: https://policies.google.com/privacy
Other players can see your leaderboard entries. We may also disclose information if the law requires it, or to protect the safety of players or the game. We do not sell or rent your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising.
4. WHERE YOUR DATA IS STORED
Data is stored on Google's servers, which may be outside your country, including in the United States. Google protects this data under its own security and data transfer commitments. All data sent between the game and our servers is encrypted in transit (HTTPS). Security rules on our database mean only you can read your own profile.
5. HOW LONG WE KEEP IT
- Game profile and leaderboard entries: until you delete your account. We may also delete profiles that have been inactive for more than 24 months.
- Analytics data: event-level data is kept for the retention period set in Google Analytics (currently 2 months). After that, only combined reports that don't identify you are kept.
- Crash reports: kept by Firebase Crashlytics for 90 days.
- Data on your phone: until you delete your account in the game, clear the app's data or uninstall the game.
6. DELETING YOUR ACCOUNT AND DATA
In the game: open Settings > Delete account and confirm. This permanently deletes:
- your cloud profile
- your entries on the game's own leaderboards
- your sign-in account, including any linked Google account details
- the game data on your phone
After that, the game starts you as a new player.
By email: if you no longer have the game installed, email {{CONTACT_EMAIL}} with the subject "Delete my Floppy Freefall data". Tell us your player name or the Google account you linked. We will delete your data within 30 days and confirm by email. You can ask us to delete your analytics data in the same email.
Scores on Google Play Games leaderboards are managed by Google. You can manage or delete your Play Games data in the Google Play Games app or at https://myaccount.google.com/.
7. YOUR RIGHTS AND CHOICES
Depending on where you live, you may have rights over your personal data. These may come from the EU and UK GDPR, India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act 2023, or US state laws such as the CCPA. They can include the right to:
- access your data or get a copy of it
- correct it
- delete it
- object to or limit how it is used
- withdraw consent
- complain to your data protection authority
To use any of these rights, email {{CONTACT_EMAIL}}. We will reply within 30 days. We will not treat you differently for using your rights.
Where the GDPR applies, our legal bases are:
- Performance of our agreement with you: running the game, saves and leaderboards.
- Our legitimate interest: improving the game, fixing crashes and keeping leaderboards fair.
- Your consent: linking a Google account, and anything else where we ask for it.
You can also:
- play without linking a Google account
- reset your advertising ID in Android settings
- stop all collection by uninstalling the game
8. CHILDREN
Floppy Freefall is made for players aged 13 and over and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has given us personal information, for example by linking a Google account, email us and we will delete it. In countries where a higher age applies for consent to data processing, players under that age should get a parent's or guardian's permission before linking a Google account.
9. CHANGES TO THIS POLICY
If we change this policy, we will post the new version on this page and update the effective date. If the changes are significant, for example adding ads or purchases, we will also tell you in the game before they take effect.
