PRACTICAL INFORMATION:

The fee (budgeted for 8-10 people) is 2,000 USD, double occupancy, and includes seven nights in a centrally located 3-4* hotel, breakfasts & lunches, as well as entrance tickets.

Single supplement – 450 USD.

Not includes: airfare, travel insurance, airport transfers, dinners, local transportation, entrance fees to other cultural sites not listed on the itinerary

Day 1: Departure from the US

Day 2: Arrival and check-in / afternoon walk around Piazza Navona

Light lunch/ refreshments

Visit the greatest surviving temple from antiquity, The Pantheon, two churches featuring Caravaggio paintings (San Luigi, San Agostino), and the church of Sant’ Agnese at Piazza Navona designed by Borromini

Day 3: Doria Pamphilj, San Ignazio, Il Gesu

Morning: Visit one of the most spectacular private art collections in Rome, Doria Pamphilj

Group lunch

Afternoon: Jesuit churches: San Ignazio of Loyola and Il Gesu

Day 4: St. Peter’s and The Vatican Museums

Morning visit to the church of St. Peter’s

Group lunch

Afternoon visit to the Vatican Museums, with particular focus on the recently renovated Raphael rooms and Michelangelo’s Sistine Chapel

Day 5 : Galleria Borghese, Sta Maria del Popolo

Morning visit to Galleria Borghese, one of the finest collections of painting and sculptures, especially by Caravaggio and Bernini; walk through the Borghese park towards Sta Maria del Popolo

Afternoon visit: Sta Maria del Popolo (Caravaggio St. Peter and St. Paul)

Day 6: Sta Maria Maggiore, Palazzo Massimo, Baths of Diocletian

Morning visit to one of the oldest and grandest of Roman basilicas, Sta Maria Maggiore.

Visit to one of Rome’s greatest collections of antiquities, Palazzo Massimo.

Visit to the Baths of Diocletian museum complex – and the church of Sta. Maria degli Angeli

Day 7: Palazzo Barberini – National Gallery, focusing on Renaissance and Baroque art, in a distinguished palace

Free afternoon – visit the forum area on your own

Day 8:  Trastevere – Sta Maria in Trastevere and Villa Farnesina

Visit one of the most charming parts of Rome, the area of Trastevere, with the exceptional early Christian basilica of Sta Maria in Trastevere.
