Information For Authors
Authors need to register with the journal prior to submitting or, if already registered, can simply log in and begin the five-step process.
Authors interested in becoming members of the Association of Agrometeorologists may visit the official website to enroll.
Journal of Agrometeorology adheres to the COPE guidelines publication ethics and best practices for authors.
General
The Journal of Agrometeorology publishes high-quality, original scientific work and critical review articles covering all dimensions of agrometeorology. The journal welcomes contributions related to micrometeorology, crop–weather relationships, crop modelling, remote sensing applications, agroclimatology, hydrometeorology, climatic risks, and climate change impacts on agricultural and allied sectors. Studies addressing field crops, horticultural crops, livestock, poultry, fisheries, and operational agrometeorology are all within the journal’s scope. Submitted manuscripts must present new findings, methodological improvements, or innovative approaches that contribute meaningfully to the field. The journal considers original research articles in form of ‘Full length paper’ or ‘Short communication’ or ‘Review paper’. The manuscript must be written in English following the prescribed format as detailed below. The articles outside the journal’s scientific scope or not following the guidelines may be rejected at the screening stage.

Manuscript Submission
Double-Blind Peer Review
The journal follows a double-blind review process.
Authors must ensure that the main manuscript file does not contain names, affiliations, or any identifying information.
Only the title page should contain author identities.
Submissions not following this requirement will not be considered for review.
Manuscript Submission & Required Files
All manuscripts must be submitted online through the “Make a Submission” option on the journal portal.
Authors are required to upload separate editable Word documents (.docx) for each component of the submission.
The mandatory files include, 1) Title Page, 2) Main Manuscript, 3) Tables, 3) Figures, and 4) Supplementary Material, 5) Authors’ Declaration, 6) List of Suggested Reviewers, 7) Plagiarism / Similarity Report and, 8) AI Check Report
File-1: Title Page
The title page should contain the full title of the manuscript, names of all authors in uppercase, their complete institutional affiliations with addresses, email IDs, and ORCID IDs (if available).
The corresponding author must be clearly identified along with contact details.
File-2: Main Manuscript
The main manuscript file should contain the ‘Full-length paper’ or ‘Short communication’ or ‘Review article’.
This file must NOT include Authors’ names, Affiliations and Acknowledgement, as the journal follows double-blind review.
The manuscript must be original and should not contain any previously published material or content submitted elsewhere.
Manuscript Formatting & Structure
Full-length Research paper
The manuscript must be prepared in Times New Roman, 12-point font, and typed with double spacing on A4-sized pages with a 2.5 cm left margin.
Authors should ensure that the formatting remains uniform throughout the document.
Only, Microsoft Word Document (.docx) files are accepted for submission.
A full-length research paper should be concise and should not exceed 20 double-spaced pages or approximately 5000 words, including all text, tables, and figures.
The manuscript must be organized under clearly defined major headings (in capital letter) as, ABSTRACT (not exceeding 200 words), Keywords (up to six), INTRODUCTION, MATERIALS AND METHODS, RESULTS AND DISCUSSION, CONCLUSION, and REFERENCES.
The subsections under each section should be numbered as 1, 1.1, 1.2…. and likewise.
Authors should strictly follow this structure to ensure consistency and facilitate smooth editorial and peer-review processing.
Short Communications
Short communications should be concise and limited to 8 double-spaced pages (≈1500 words).
They must NOT include conventional headings such as Introduction, Materials and Methods, Results, or Conclusion.
However, a separate section containing funding, conflict of interest, author contributions, and data availability must be included.
Review Articles
Review articles are usually invited from reputed senior level scientists.
However, any author can submit a review articles on the contemporary topics.
The authors should ensure that the manuscript is comprehensive, well-structured, and supported by recent literature.
The manuscript should contain, a short title, abstract (in 200 words), introduction describing the relevance of the topic, extensive part of the article broken down into sections and subsections for clarity and conclusion summarizing the key findings, research gaps, the future perspectives and references.
The tables and figures given in the review article should be following the copyright restrictions of the original sources.
References and Citation Style (APA Format)
The journal follows APA style for citations and references.
In text, citations should use author–year format [Malav & Yadav, 2023; Singh et al., (2022); Verma et al., 2023].
All citations in the text, table and graph must appear in the reference list.
The reference list should be alphabetically arranged by author surname (a…….z).

File-3: Tables
Tables may appear within the manuscript for the convenience of reviewer.
Additionally, the tables must be uploaded as separate files.
The tables should be self-explanatory and must contain, Table No., title (e.g., Table-XX: Effect of ……….……..), properly defined column headings, units, and foot notes wherever necessary.
Ensure that all units follow the International System of Units (SI)
In case of multiple tables, all the tables may be copied sequentially in one .docx file for uploading.
File-4: Figures
Figures may appear within the manuscript for the convenience of reviewers.
Additionally, the figures must be uploaded as separate file.
The figures should be sequentially numbered and given a short title
(e.g., Fig-XX: Effect of………………...).
The figures should be in JPG/PNG/TIFF/EPS format of high-resolution and legible.
Figures should be numbered and must contain a s short title and foot notes, wherever necessary in order to make it self-explanatory.
Ensure that all units follow the International System of Units (SI).
In case of multiple figures, all the figures may be copied ‘as picture’ sequentially in one .docx file for uploading.
File-5: Supplementary Material (Optional)
Supplementary files e.g., datasets, additional figures, extended tables, or videos should be appropriately named and linked to the main text.
They must be clearly referenced in the manuscript.
File-6: Authors’ Declaration
Authors’ declaration file should confirm that the manuscript is original and not under review elsewhere, has been approved by all authors, and complies with ethical and professional standards.
The declaration must include funding information, data availability, author contributions, conflict of interest, disclaimer, and publisher’s note.
Ethical Requirements & Mandatory Statements
Author Contributions - describe specific role of each author in conceptualization, data curation, analysis, making figures/graphs, writing manuscript, supervision, or editing.
Funding Statement – clearly mention financial support or state “No funding was received” or “Funded by ………………for ……………….”, whichever is applicable.
Acknowledgement to individual(s)/organization(s), if any.
Conflict of Interest Statement - authors must declare that no conflict exists.
Data Availability Statement - specify whether data are ‘available upon request’, ‘accessible via a link’, or ‘cannot be shared’.
Disclaimer - The contents, opinions, and views expressed in the research article published in the Journal of Agrometeorology are the views of the authors and do not necessarily reflect the views of the organizations they belong to.
Publisher’s Note - The periodical remains neutral with regard to jurisdictional claims in published maps and institutional affiliations.
Animal Ethics (if applicable)- appropriate permissions from relevant ethics committee are required when research involves animals.
The Authors’ Declaration form in given template has to be printed, signed, scanned and uploaded as pdf/jpg format
File-7: List of Suggested Reviewers
Authors must provide details of five qualified reviewers.
Each entry should include the reviewer’s full name, designation, affiliation, email address, and phone number.
Suggested reviewers should not be current collaborators, colleagues from the same institute, or individuals with potential conflicts of interest.
File-8: Plagiarism / Similarity Report (Optional)
The journal prohibits copied text, figures, or ideas without proper acknowledgment.
A similarity report generated using Turnitin, iThenticate, or other reputable tools must be submitted.
The total similarity index should not exceed 20%. High similarity may lead to rejection before peer review.
File-9: AI Check Report (Optional)
To maintain transparency and uphold research integrity, authors are required to submit an AI Check Report as a separate file during manuscript submission.
This report should clearly indicate whether AI-based tools (such as ChatGPT, Bard, Copilot, Gemini, AI image generators, or similar technologies) were used at any stage of the research or manuscript preparation.
Incorrect or incomplete references may delay processing.
Double-Blind Peer Review
The journal follows a double-blind review process. Authors must ensure that the main manuscript file does not contain names, affiliations, or any identifying information. Only the title page should contain author identities. Submissions not following this requirement may be returned for correction before review.
Review Process
The submitted research articles are initially screened by the editorial board members, if found worth reviewing then assigned to reviewers for peer review, otherwise rejected at initial stage. Reviewers’ comments and suggestions are taken into account for further processing. The manuscripts are accepted only after favourable recommendations of the reviewers, editors and satisfactorily compliance by the authors.
Journal follows a double-blind review system, in which author and reviewer will be anonymous throughout the review process.
Online Publication Charges (OPC)
The Journal of Agrometeorology (JAM) is published by the Association of Agrometeorologists (AAM) which is a Non-Profit Organization. All articles published in the Journal of Agrometeorology (JAM) are open access and freely available online, immediately upon publication with DOI assigned to each article. In order to meet the expenses towards the services AAM provides in publishing the articles, indexing services, assigning DOI and customer services, the Online Publication Charges (OPC) are collected from the Authors. The OPC will be payable only when the manuscript is editorially accepted and before publication. This charge may be paid by the author, or his/her funding agency, institution, or employer.
The applicable charges due from the corresponding author for the purpose will be INR 500/- (AAM Member); INR 1000/- (Non-Member); US$ 50/- (Authors from SAARC/Least Developed Country ) and US$ 100/- (Other Foreign Author).
