Pine Forest Nativity
S. Sitarski & J. Fedorowicz
Poland
Wood
This Nativity from Poland, a country with a rich tradition of wood carving, is made from carved and turned pieces of wood—some stained with color, and others left to show the natural woodgrain. The Christ Child appears to be standing in the manger with outstretched arms, lending a joyful feel to the scene. The heads of the ox and donkey peer out together through a fence. Tall carved pine trees provide a backdrop. The bottom of this Nativity is stamped S. Sitarski & J. Fedorowicz.
