N-Level - DPP Eligibility Criteria

The Direct-Entry Scheme to Polytechnic Programme (DPP) is a route that allows N(A)-Level students to enter a Higher Nitec course at the Institute of Technical Education (ITE), with a guaranteed pathway to polytechnic.

N-Level - PFP Eligibility Criteria

The Polytechnic Foundation Programme (PFP) is a one-year programme for top-performing N(A)-Level students, allowing them to enter polytechnic without taking O-Levels.

Starting from the 2026 intake, students will be admitted to the PFP in 3 Broad Clusters

Sciences
Humanities, Art, Media and Business
Design, Engineering and Technology (Note: NYP and TP offer as two Sub-Clusters: (i) Design and (ii) Engineering & Technology)

Diploma-specific admission will continue for selected specialized courses:

Nursing (NP and NYP)
Early Childhood Development & Education course (NP and TP)
Tamil Studies with Early Education course (NP)

Note: Students applying to the Tamil Studies with Early Education must also obtain one of the following scores:

Grade B4 for O-Level Higher Tamil Language
Grade B3 for O-Level Tamil Language
Grade 1 for N(A)-Level Tamil Language

O-Level - Bonus Points

O-Level students applying for Junior Colleges (JCs), Millennia Institute (MI), and Polytechnics may receive bonus points to improve their admission scores. These bonuses can come from factors such as:

CCA (Co-Curricular Activities) achievements
Affiliation to a JC
Higher Mother Tongue Language (HMTL) grades

A-Level students applying for local universities in Singapore need to understand the University Admission Score (UAS), also known as the University Entrance Score (UES).

Grade Point Average (GPA)

The Grade Point Average (GPA) system is used by polytechnics and universities in Singapore to assess academic performance. A student’s GPA can determine eligibility for further studies, scholarships, or transfers between institutions.

Academic progress is tracked by the GPA, which is the weighted average grade point of all modules/courses taken by a student. Courses with no assigned units or grade points are excluded from the calculation of GPA.
