About Us

Continuing education and training opportunities for practicing nurses are essential to professional advancement. Global data on the number of training programs for nurses is unknown, however there are fewer opportunities in Low-Middle Income Countries compared to High Income Countries. There is an identified need and desire for transformative training to upskill nurses in LMICs, and nursing leaders welcome assistance in learning best practices for optimum patient care and outcomes. Understanding what resources and infrastructure are routinely available is essential to applying concepts to practice in interdependent education, and studies show that proactive technical assistance enhances the sustainability of programs.

To address some of these challenges, nurse clinicians from the Alliance for Global Clinical Training continuously seek to form partnerships with hospitals and academic institutions to facilitate these opportunities. The Alliance is a non-profit corporation which has linked HIC educators with Departments of Surgery and Nursing in LMICs since 2012. Our goal is to build capacity in nursing by teaching and scaling up participants’ knowledge, skills and comfort levels in providing quality care. Alliance nurse clinicians have been conducting educational and training programs abroad since 2018. Comprehensive manuals, slide presentations, case studies, and other resources are part of our programs. This online education resource center is complementary to our efforts, with specific intent to be provided in a free, open-access format for ease of continued use and replication of programs (when permitted) to promote sustainability for all.
