African Elephants are precious as there are only a few left, and we are the reason for that. The African Elephant is listed as one of the endangered animals, as there are only an estimated 451,000 left.   It is estimated that there used to be 1.1 million roaming around the world. Though after the human population and deforestation, this animal is to be found on the endangered list. Humans have tried their best to help elephants. Such as making elephant killing illegal, and reducing ivory trafficking. This is all our doing and we are trying to fix it as much as possible.
