As the global human rights community marks the 32nd anniversary of the Tiananmen Square massacre in China, we, a group of exiled dissidents, activists, intellectuals from 14 African and Asian nations have come together to remind France, the West and the global community at large that the oppression in China continues to date under the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) and has only intensified from that dark day in history in 1989.
“China's imperialistic designs in the name of the New Silk Roads are a danger to fledgling democracies everywhere in the world, and the CCP's expansionism in collaboration with the rich elites across the globe should be a wake up call, especially for the West,” says Taha Siddiqui, a Pakistani journalist-in-exile and one of the organizers of this newly formed coalition - the AAA (AfricaAsiaAssembly), gathered here at Place de la Republique today.
The coalition comprises of communities belonging to Hong Kong, Cameroon, Tibet, Benin, Myanmar, Niger, Uighur, Senegal, Pakistan, Congo, Kazakhstan, Djibouti,Vietnam, Sierra Leon, Mongolia and Taiwan.
