Once you have unlocked all 12 Maker skills, you will receive the quest "Apex Challenge: The Bow Master" and the Energizing Longbow crafting design. This quest calls for you to craft an Energizing Longbow, which needs an exquisite dawnsheen branch, an exquisite shaded waterweed, and an exquisite hammerhead horn. Completing the quest will grant the "Apex Memory - Master Crafter" skill, which raises the stats on all materials. Unlocking this skill is necessary for maximum crafting.
In the Gameplay section in the settings menu, there is a toggle for Gathering Complexity. This must be set to "Default" or "Low Difficulty" in order to receive the pristine bonus.
However, maximum stats can still be obtained with Gathering Complexity set to "Off" if used in combination with the "Forager" perk (see Novao's Mushroom Pie and Hammerhead Bake).
These four meals provide status effects that get rid of the need to harvest materials in the right conditions. Two of them, Novao's Mushroom Pie and Hammerhead Bake, give Forager, which means you don't have to harvest pristinely, either. The other two, Relun's Fish Stew and Gatherer's Tea, give Adept Forager, which only covers the condition bonus. You'll still have to make pristine harvests with this effect.
Because all of these meals have two status effects (the max amount you can have from eating), you must eat these before your stir fry.
NOTE: when Forager is active, the gathering condition will always appear unmet. This is a visual bug, and the stats will reflect the gathering condition being met.

Nimble Gatherer III boosts gathered material stats by 45%. It is absolutely necessary to achieve maximum gear stats. Only certain seeds give +45% instead of 15% or 30%. To combine with a gathering effect, you must eat a stir fry after the gathering meal.
NOTE: when Nimble Gatherer is active, all stats in the hunter's guide are visually changed. This is a bug, and only gathered (not hunted) materials are affected by Nimble Gatherer.
Any stir fry will work the same. A stir fry can be made with seeds as the primary ingredient.
Do not use herbs as your secondary ingredient. It makes a ruined meal.
If you are using canyon eyethorn seed, do not pair with canyon ant hive nectar. It makes a specialty, Glazed Seed Puffs, with an undesired second status effect.
If you are using heartlands feather blade seed, do not pair with zakru milk. It makes a specialty, Stinging Cheese, with an undesired second status effect.

I have found it useful to use the Masked Scent effect when trying to get clean kills on certain predators, such as the heartlands cloaked panther and the canyon whipfang crawler. Landing a clean kill can be easier when the animal isn't attacking you, and Masked Scent allows you to take your time with your shot without being noticed.
NOTE: Thanators will NOT appear in their dens while this effect is active.
Oku's Bake
Primary: superior banquet mushroom
Secondary: superior echo stalker lean meat
Stormglider Stew
Primary: fine stormglider lean meat
Secondary: fine dawn fruit
Sweet Thanator Stew
Primary: fine kinglor wetlands thanator lean meat
Secondary: fine spineberry fruit
Stinging Cheese (Skybreaker)
Primary: exquisite heartlands feather blade seed

Getting a clean kill on stronger predators and other animals can be challenging if your current weapon isn't strong enough for a single hit. One approach is to lower the combat difficulty in settings. Another is to use the Fury status effect, which boosts damage by 35% to 50% depending on the quality of the ingredients.
Any Skewer will work the same. A skewer can be made with lean meat as the primary ingredient.
No secondary ingredient will make a ruined meal.
All specialties with lean meat as the primary ingredient have the Fury effect, so there is no combination you need to avoid.
