On November 8, 2023, in our first Digital Literacy class, Mr. Limbong talked about some important rules. He said we should always be on time. If we're more than 15 minutes late, we can't join the class. And if we miss class three times, we might not pass the Digital Literacies course.
And then, we talked about Google Sites and Digital Literacy/Intelligence. Mr. Limbong asked us questions about those two, and even though our first answers were not very detailed, he encouraged us to learn more on our own. During our discussion, we learned that Google Sites is a versatile tool for creating websites without coding.
It can also be used as a place to store E-Portfolios. It's easy to use and share, making it accessible for everyone. One big difference is that Google Sites is flexible and customizable. You can make lots of pages, change the design, and layout.
Then, we learned about Digital Intelligence (DQ). We found out what it means and talked about its different parts. We also had to make Google Sites, like our own web pages, for ourselves and our small groups. Each group, with 3-4 people, focused on a specific part of DQ. My group worked on Digital Rights.
To understand DQ better, Mr. Limbong told us to use ChatGPT to find its definition and share it on our Whatsapp Group. This made the learning not just about sitting in class but also using technology to learn together.

Besides talking about these tools, we did a reflective exercise. We had to remember and talk about what we learned from last semester meetings 1 to 13 without using notes or smartphones. This not only tested our memory but also helped us understand and remember the course content better.
The first class was not just about lessons. It taught us that being on time and actively taking part in the class are also really important. It set the stage for the course, making us see that learning in the digital world is both interesting and requires us to be responsible.
