Hello! My name is Samuel Davis and I was born October 21st, 1980. I grew up in a medium-sized town named Sapulpa, in northeast Oklahoma. I am an only child, and most of my family still lives around the Tulsa area in Oklahoma.
I graduated High School May 2000 with a scholarship to Haskell Indian Nations University in Lawrence, KS. for football. I stayed there for about a semester, and left because, as most teenagers do, knew everything! It is something I regret not sticking with but also realize that everything happens for a reason, and I would not be where I am today had I stayed. During the next 5 years or so I took classes here and there and worked at Southcrest Hospital in Tulsa in the materials management department. It was a fun job and I really enjoyed that environment and the people, but the job itself had a ceiling and I was starting to look for something more. I met my beautiful future wife, Jessica, in August of 2003. I credit her with steering my life in the right direction. Her father had been in the Air Force in the past and after speaking with him it was the first time I thought that may be the direction I wanted to go. I quickly went from a bachelor wandering through life to a married, future father, on his way to basic training by February of 2006.
I spent 4 years from 2006-2010 at Little Rock Air Force Base as a fuels specialist in POL. It was a very important time for me and my new family as we learned about being together as a family and raising our son. I enjoyed POL very much but wanted a new challenge. In January of 2011 I went to recruiter school at Lackland AFB, TX.
Recruiting is where I found my calling and is something that I enjoy very much. I started out in Joplin, MO. And during that time worked both enlisted and officer recruits for active duty. In my next assignment, I went back to my home state and worked for Oklahoma City MEPS. This has probably been my favorite of the jobs within the recruiting world as there was always something new each day. Towards the end of 2017, I made the career decision to take an AGR spot in the Air Force Reserve.
I feel that this has been my biggest challenge thus far as I did not realize the extreme differences between active and reserve, but it is a challenge that I am up for! I have already worked both officer and enlisted within the AFR, and feel this fiscal year will be one of redemption for me. I look forward to a long career within the AFR.
