The Aeramen Limb combines existing technologies to create a robotic prosthetic arm designed for usage in extreme environments. Although prostheses currently exist in many forms, including bionic ("mind-controlled") and body-powered (basic user-controlled), most lack the capability to function in the high-risk, extreme, or industrial environments. By combining existing robotics technologies with modularity and optimal materials, the Aeramen Limb provides an intuitive prosthesis with immense environmental adaptability.
Two intuitive user interfaces control the Aeramen Limb. The first involves mechanical controls, taking actions directly on the physical arm: straining a cable connecting the hand to the arm triggers gripping, while pressing a forearm button activates servomotor-powered rotation, such as the wrist’s three degrees of freedom. The second method, voice activation, customizable to users, utilizes integrated microphones and private voice recognition technology. Commands like “raise arm” signal hydraulic actuators in the elbow joint, enabling intuitive, hands-free operation. User surveys informed us of the need for easy removal, with the overwhelming majority preferring a harness-cable system. This system is easy to put on, wear, and remove, ensuring rapid response when necessary in high-risk environments.
The Aeramen Limb ensures maintenance ease by using simple materials suitable for all sorts of environments, prioritizing durability, comfort, and functionality. The hand and often-used joints are controlled with space-grade hydraulic actuators, usable in all environments. Electronics, like servo motors and Arduino microcontrollers, are protected with radiation-hardening coatings, as well as other protections at joints and materials that ensure comfort and customization.
The Aeramen Limb, with proprietary modular components, functions in all kinds of environments, with customizations possible for even more optimization. Hydraulics enable low-gravity function for space, radiation shielding is perfect for nuclear facilities, thermal insulation ensures durability in extreme temperatures, and reinforced joints mitigate abrasive conditions in mining or heavy industry settings.
Aeramen operates on a licensing model, wherein existing prosthetic companies are free to use Aeramen's IP while paying royalties. We further offer component sales and warranties, leveraging the product's modularity for simple solutions. In the initial stages of our business, we would love to have initial testers of our product. If you are interested in partnering or with funding Aeramen's mission, we would love your support. Please Contact Us to find out more!
