What is Art, Equity, and Democracy?

Art  is a process in any area of life not of going from a known point A to a known point B but inventing point B—building a world, navigating an unknown frontier without a template, creating the new normal.

Equity means both fairness and ownership. Under a market logic, price represents value. Art has many kinds of value at a point in time, and its value emerges over time. Ownership creates new models of economic sustainability and collaborative governance.

The AEDlab is dedicated to doing this work.

Democracy is one of the great art projects of our time. Politics and economics are different design logics. Politics is one person one vote. Economics is how much. We need to disentangle these. Criticism is not enough. We need to build and imagine the point B world we want to live in.
