In Riga the students developed an empathy towards the elderly and the disabled people and learnt different cultural perspective about their places in society. Also, got acquainted with Latvian culture, traditional dishes and cultural and historical sites.
We managed to do:
1- Ice-breaking activities (eg. interactive games),
2- Presentation of the country and its educational system
3- We all together visited Riga's 5th special primary school: We got to know the environment in which students with special needs study, how the learning process is organized and we explored everyday school life.
4- Presentations: Students presented their visit to Senior Citizens Club in their city and their interview with the elderly people and presentation about society's attitude towards the elderly in their country and suggestions for enabling active aging
5- 'Rainman': Students watched a film (eg. 'Rainman') and brainstormed and discussed about people with special needs, disabled people. They presented their videorecords about a disabled person or a student acting like one while he/she moves in their hometown so as to assess whether their place is friendly towards people with special needs or not and made presentation about Disabled people's rights and shared experiences.
6- We made evaluation of the first year (products and process) and meeting
The methodology which was used for the this mobility were interactive, creative such as presentations, experiments, observations, discussions, question and answer sessions, researches, field trip interviews, etc.
