To participate in this game it's obligatory to become part of our Discord Server. From there, you'd have to get registered to our friendly bot Meryta, which is simpler than how it sounds. All you have to do, is type in the command +register in the text chat of any channel.
Everyone Registered with Meryta Bot is considered as a Player in Adventures in Vaerdia (AiV). In that regard, each player is assigned with a different role for each ongoing Story in the world of Vaerdia. The main roles responsible for the progression of a Story in Vaerdia are the Narrator, the Actors and the Spectators:
Narrator: The player given this role is responsible for describing the world and narrating the events for the rest of the Players. He is often tasked with coming up with Obstacles or creating plot hooks for the actors to act on, helping the actors with creating a story centered around their characters.
Actors: Each of them is given control of a protagonist of the story. They are tasked with roleplaying these characters and taking decisions for them. They are responsible for creating the rails of the story. The Actors are recommended to discuss their character and their progression with the Narrator.
Spectators: Everyone that isn't an Actor or a Narrator is given the role of a Spectator for that Story. Spectators can provide their input about the story in the form of feedback, while they are also given a few tools to help them interact with the story. Primarily, the Spectators are given the opportunity to participate in Polls and help make decisions about events of the world. In addition to that, Spectators are given a special currency, which can be spent to enhance or alter the game world.
The stories played in AiV can be separated in two categories:
Storium Games : Stories played through Storium have a bigger focus on writing an interesting piece of lore for the World of Vaerdia.
Fate Games: Stories played using Fate System, maintain a certain Focus on Narration, however the main focus can be shifted around character development, combat or problem solving.
Quizzes: When there are no other Stories taking place, someone might assume the role of a Narrator and host a Quiz game based on already played stories and known Lore.
Every registered user is automatically assigned as a Spectator to a story that he hasn't joined as an Actor or a Narrator.
In order to participate as an Actor, it is required to submit a character.
For Storium Games, everyone wishing to submit a character can do so through a link provided by the Narrator.
For Fate Games, characters are submitted through Discord in the #submissions channel.
The Narrator can select which characters are the most appropriate for the story and allow the players that created them to participate as Actors.
