Adventure Kids Academy is an innovative educational approach that takes learning outside the classroom and into the heart of nature. Through hands-on activities, exploration, and play, children develop essential life skills, resilience, and a love for the environment.

Session times: 11:00 AM - 3:00 PM
Location: Mendon Ponds Park (Exact locations are given after registration)
Activities include: nature walks, shelter building, wildlife observation, creative arts, kayaking, fishing and more!

Donation-Based Program
Donation-Based Program
Adventure Kids Academy with Alyssa Rose is a donation-based program. We believe that every child should have the opportunity to connect with nature, regardless of financial circumstances. Your generous donations help us cover essential costs, including:
Shelter and site fees
Supplies and materials for activities
Leader expertise and program development
We suggest a donation of $150 per winter / summer season, or $500 per spring / fall season, but any amount is appreciated. Your support ensures that we can continue to offer a high-quality, inclusive outdoor learning experience for all families.
No child will be turned away due to inability to donate. Thank you for helping us grow a community rooted in generosity and a love for nature!

Who can join?
Children ages 6-12 are welcome. No prior outdoor experience is necessary!
Can I come with my child?
Yes. Parents, or other adult family members, are welcome to join your child at forest school. Having adult hike helpers allows us to have fun and stay safe while exploring the great outdoors. We also offer drop off options!
What should my child bring?
A list of recommended clothing and supplies will be provided upon registration. Most importantly weather appropriate clothing and comfortable hiking footwear.
What if the weather is bad?
Adventure Kids Academy runs in most weather conditions. We believe there’s no such thing as bad weather, only unsuitable clothing! If there are travel advisories or dangerous conditions, parents will be informed of any cancellations as soon as possible. Alternate dates or class credits will be offered.

Alyssa Rose is a passionate educator and nature enthusiast with experience in outdoor learning and child development. Alyssa is a certified teacher in the state of New York and has been teaching in a public school system and nature center setting for over 10 years. She started offering this program in the fall of 2025 and is excited to watch it grow in the coming seasons.
