The goal of this 2-days workshop is to provide researchers and postgraduate students working in the field of networking with an introduction to a powerful network simulation tool. OMNeT++ is an extensible, modular, component-based C++ simulation library and framework, primarily for building network simulators. Participants came from a few different institutions in Perlis and Kedah, including UniMAP staff and students.

We are honored today by the presence of Prof. Dr. Zainudin Bachok, the Head of Coral Reef Ecology Group (CORE), Biological Oceanography and Biodiversity Laboratory, Institute of Oceanography and Environment (INOS), Universiti Malaysia Terengganu.

The discussion centered on exploring the possibility of collaborating on integrated marine data management, particularly on data analytics and deep learning related to coral reef images and data.

Today we hosted the 4th series of AdvComp Seminars in collaboration with the IEEE Systems, Man and Cybernetics (Malaysia). This is one of the initiatives carried out by AdvComp to encourage researchers and students to take part and win in research exhibitions and showcases. Our heartfelt gratitude to the honourable speaker Mohd Helmy Abd Wahab for a very interesting and great sharing. In addition, it was also a great pleasure to welcome a number of participants from outside of UniMAP such as Politechnique Balik Pulau and UiTM Arau.

A workshop on "INTRODUCTION TO ZOTERO" organized by the Centre of Excellence for Advanced Computing (AdvComp) UniMAP, in collaboration with the IEEE Systems, Man, and Cybernetics Society (Malaysia Section) has been held as follows:

The main goal of this workshop is to give an overview of Zotero (for beginners) and to provide all participants with the benefits so they can gain insight into the Zotero concept. This workshop consists of short presentations with interactive, "hands-on" experiences, as well as an opportunity for participants to share their own experiences with Zotero. The workshop has been successfully attended by lecturers, graduate students, and undergraduate students.

11th January 2023 | Visit to MIMOS KHTP, Kulim.

It has been our pleasure to pay a visit to MIMOS in order to further discuss the possibility of collaborating between the two parties. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Asral Bahari Jambek, the Head of the Center of Excellence for Micro System Technology (MiCTEC), was also present during this visit.

Our delegates were warmly welcomed by the Director, Corporate Technology MIMOS KHTP, Ts Shamsul Abdul Wahid and his team. Our discussion centered mainly on ways to expand our collaboration between AdvComp, MiCTEC, and MIMOS with regards to grants and potential research projects.

15 December 2022 | Intellectual Property (MyIPO) Workshop

A workshop on intellectual property (MyIPO) organized by our Center of Excellence for Advanced Computing (AdvComp) has been held as follows:

Speaker : Mr. Mohd Radhi Ahmad (Director, Malaysian Intellectual Property Corporation (MyIPO), North Zone Branch)

The objective of this workshop is to provide researchers with an insight into intellectual property, improve their understanding of the importance of intellectual property, and learn the necessary skills to draft patent applications and intellectual property files.

A copyright filing counter was also opened as part of the workshop.

At the end of the workshop, two of our researchers have successfully filed their intellectual property rights, which are Associate Professor Ir Dr Mohd Rashidi Che Beson for patent and Ts Dr Nurulisma for copyright. Congratulations to both of them. Well done!

5 December 2022 | Workshop: How to Write a Winning FRGS Proposal.

A workshop has been conducted by our CoE today on how to write a winning proposal for the upcoming FRGS. This workshop aimed to help researchers identify potential research areas, create a sense of teamwork and ultimately generate some ideas for FRGS proposals.

14th November 2022 | AdvComp - C-ART (UTeM) Research Collaborations.

Satu lawatan oleh ExCo AdvComp ke Centre for Advanced Computing Technology (C-ACT), UTeM telah diadakan untuk membincangkan peluang kerjasama dan kolaborasi di antara kedua-dua belah pihak.

Delegasi kami telah disambut baik oleh Ketua C-ACT iaitu PM. Ts. Dr. Ahmad Naim dan juga Dekan Fakulti Teknologi Maklumat dan Komunikasi (PM. Ts. Dr. Mohd Sanusi).

Menerusi perbincangan ini, beberapa peluang kolaborasi telah dibincangkan dan dipersetujui bersama. Diharap ianya dapat merancakkan aktiviti penyelidikan kedua belah pihak.

Kami juga berpeluang melawat makmal-makmal dibawah C-ACT, antaranya Cybersecurity Competence Centre, Makmal Satelit, Makmal OPTIMAS (Optimization Modeling Analytic & Simulation), Makmal Biocore (Biomedic & Engineering) dan Makmal Multimedia.

29 November 2022 | Collaboration between AdvComp and KLICC.

We had the pleasure of having the President of the Kuala Lumpur International Chamber of Commerce (KLICC), Adjunct Professor Dato' Hashim Saleh, who has visited us at AdvComp for a meeting with the aim of exploring the possibility of a collaboration. There were many potential research projects discussed during the meeting, one of which to be focusing on Halal Certification System.

This meeting was also attended by the Director of the RMC UniMAP, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Naimah Ibrahim.

27 October 2022 | AdvComp - UTeM Research Collaborations.

Our CoE have truly honoured to receive a visit by Y.Bhg. Vice Chancellor UTeM, Prof. Ts. Dr. Massila Kamalrudin yesterday. The visit to our CoE was focusing on the discussion to strategise potential collaborations between AdvComp and UTeM research centre. It was a great and fruitful discussion with several identified collaborations between the two centres. Prof. Dr. Massila also attended the Elsevier-MTUN Symposium which was held in UniMAP on the same day.

This meeting was also attended by the Dean, Faculty of Electronic Engineering & Technology, Associate Professor Ts. Dr. Siti Khadijah Za'aba, AdvComp Cluster Heads and researchers, as well as FKTEN Exco member.
