It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of our dear friend and founding director, Carol Estelle Christensen Ergenbright, on August 13, 2025.

Carol was a lifelong educator, a tireless advocate for adult learners, and the heart of the Adult Education Foundation of Blount County. She touched countless lives with her kindness, wisdom, and dedication. Her vision gave us the Adult Spelling Bee, which has become our most cherished community tradition.
