Just before I delve into the translations and other versions...
Ao Oni can be a bit cryptic for new players, so I have written walkthroughs for every version.
Feel free to use them if you get stuck!

AdPro's English Translated Versions, Fan-Games, and Other Stuff
These are my honest attempts at translating all versions of Ao Oni currently known to exist.
If you're looking for a translation that is as faithful towards the original Japanese as possible, look here.
There's also other stuff there like 3D Models, fan-games translated by me (or others and compiled by me), and translations of other Ao Oni media.

Ao Oni JMU Edition (All Versions)
JMU is the official English translator for Ao Oni Version 6.23.
His translation is the most famous version of the game, as it's on the official website for Ao Oni,
and it's been played by countless people on YouTube and other platforms.
Despite the popularity, his translation had a lot of formatting errors and other issues, so I fixed them.
On top of that, I wanted to have all the other versions translated similar to his style, but with my fixes.
If you're looking to play all versions of Ao Oni with the most official-as-possible translation, this is for you.

Ao Oni - Wit One Inc. Translation
Wit One Inc. is the company responsible for the English translation of Aooni (2024), the Steam remake version.
Personally, I'm a bit fond of this translation since it feels pretty similar to my own translations.
There are people that have qualms with it and I understand why, but I still kinda enjoy the differences this translation had.
As such, I felt it would be interesting to try porting over this translation back into the original Version 6.23.
Since there are slight script changes in the remake itself (across all languages), I did make a couple tweaks to fit more in-line with the original.
If you're looking for a translation that's both official and recent, this is for you.

Ao Oni 3.0 - English 2010 Translation
A reconstruction of an English translation of Ao Oni Version 3.0 that is partially lost.
This is by far the oldest Ao Oni translation currently known to exist on the internet, made by theloafingone.

Blue Octopus was our attempt at Google Translating Ao Oni Version 3.0.
We have also done a similar approach with Ao Oni Version 6.23

Ao Oni auf Deutsch
ENGLISH
The German version of Ao Oni Version 5.2 was thought to be lost media for over 10 years.
It was only recently when AdPro finally got into contact with the translator, Sephy, and asked about the German version.
Sephy had already worked on an English translation of 5.2 in the past, which was still obtainable.
As if by a miracle, Sephy still had the files to the German version of 5.2 and uploaded it to his file server.
Afterwards, AdPro took the version and corrected some minor problems and archived it.
Later, AdPro attempted to use Sephy's translation (as well as help from friends) to translate Version 6.23.

Die deutsche Version von Ao Oni Version 5.2 galt über 10 Jahre lang als unerreichbar.
Erst vor kurzem nahm AdPro endlich Kontakt mit dem Übersetzer Sephy auf und fragte nach der deutschen Version.
Sephy hatte in der Vergangenheit bereits an einer englischen Übersetzung von 5.2 gearbeitet, die immer noch erhältlich war.
Wie durch ein Wunder hatte Sephy noch die Dateien der deutschen Version von 5.2 und lud sie auf seinen Dateiserver.
Danach nahm AdPro diese Version, korrigierte einige kleinere Probleme und archivierte sie.
Später versuchte AdPro, Sephys Übersetzung (sowie die Hilfe von Freunden) zu nutzen, um Version 6.23 zu übersetzen.

Ao Oni en Français

Since I've been working as a translator for Carthage Subbing (Code Lyoko subtitling project),
I felt bored and wanted to try translating a game from English to French, so I gave Ao Oni a shot.
It's not perfect, but it should at least be playable from start to finish for any French player.

FRANÇAIS
Depuis que je travaille comme traducteur pour Carthage Subbing (projet de sous-titrage de Code Lyoko),
je me suis ennuyé et j'ai eu envie d'essayer de traduire un jeu de l'anglais vers le français, alors j'ai donné une chance à Ao Oni.
Ce n'est pas parfait, mais ça devrait au moins être jouable du début à la fin pour n'importe quel joueur français.

Ao Oni ver.6.24
Ao Oni ver.6.24 is an unofficial fan-modification that fixes some remaining bugs that can be found in ver.6.23.
There is a Japanese, Italian, and English version (just like the official website).
The English version is not JMU's translation, it is my own.
Still, if you'd like a version of Ao Oni that has no bugs at all, check this out.

This version is Ao Oni's Official English version with some touchups for better English readability.

Based on user feedback, I have updated the French translation of Version 6.23.
The French translation of Version 3.0 is now on a separate, hidden page as it has more issues than 6.23's current translation.
Revised "UPDATES" to be formatted from newest to oldest.

Fixed a minor typo ("Found the Kid's Bedoom Key.") in both English 6.23 and 6.24.
Fixed errors in the German versions of 5.2 and 6.23.

Fixed sentences from the older translation that were still present in English Version 6.24.

Fixed item names and descriptions using the older translation in English Version 6.24.

Fixed a minor typo (at the bathtub) and changed the word "chair" to "pew" in English Version 6.23.
Implemented revised English translation into Ao Oni Version 6.24.

Finished a German version of Ao Oni 6.23.

I went back and reworded a few sentences in Version 3.0.
I apologize if this causes frustration for those who already downloaded the revised 3.0 from yesterday.
However, it should be completely free of any strange wording now.

I went through and revised each of my English Version translations.
There were parts where I felt the wording was off and the item names would sometimes not make much sense.
For example, I have now changed "Lattice Door Key" to be "Iron Gate Key",
"+ Screwdriver" and "- Screwdriver" to "Phillips Head Screwdriver" and "Flat Head Screwdriver", and so on.
Versions 1.1 and 3.0 had the heaviest amount of modification, while Versions 4.2 - 6.23 had very little change (mostly just item names).
Feel free to check out the revised translations and see if they flow better.
In case anyone is wondering, I do still have the old translations but I will not be distributing them anymore (sorry).
