Submissions

Submissions Guidelines

Our mission is to cultivate a love of personal expression and allow adolescents and young adults to cathartically express themselves without worrying about pre-judgment.

Despite our desire for works from diverse perspectives, we will not tolerate any submissions that are misognynistic, homophobic, transphobic, racist, sexist or rife with hate. Your submission will automatically be denied, and your e-mail will be blocked from submitting other works.

We consider a diverse array of genres for publication, ranging from poetry to fictional works, to non-fictional pieces to artistic renderings of all motifs.

Poetry

Please do not exceed 250 lines of poetry in any style. Feel free to dabble in iambic pentameter or pen a whimsical limerick.

Up to three poems can be submitted in any given month. If multiple poems are submitted simultaneously, it is strongly encouraged that they relate to a common theme.

Fictional Prose

Stories should range from 500 to 5,000 words.

Up to three stories can be submitted in any given month.

Non-Fictional Prose/Editorials

Non-fictional writing shoudl range from 500 to 5000 words.

Up to three pieces can be submitted in any given month

Accepted Works

If your submission is selected, Adolescent Voices requires First North American publishing and archival rights. All rights revert back to authors upon publication of their work(s).

Because of our mission to foster a genuine passion for the written word, we allow previously published pieces and simultaneous submissions. However, it is your responsbility to let the Editor-in-Chief know where the piece was initiaily published so that appropriate credit can be given.  You can do so by e-mailing AnnaBelle @adolescentvoices@gmail.com

Response time is generally within six weeks.

Since we are seeking to encourage youth writers/artists of all backgrounds to submit their works, we do our best to provide feedback to authors/artists whose pieces are not accepted for publication.

Our initial issues will be an eclectic mix of writing that do not subscribe to any particular theme.

There is ABSOLUTELY NO tolerance for plagiarism or the use of AI. Writing can be a labor of love. Embrace the process!
