2 Sep 2024 Update:
Hi drivers, I urgently need your help. Over the weekend, I created this survey ( https://forms.gle/KSsvXGYf5YS9FwDp8 ) to gather our collective feedback, which will be shared with both federal and state governments. I understand the survey isn’t perfect, and with around 36 questions, it may take 20 to 50 minutes to complete thoughtfully. However, time is short, and I need it done by Thursday 5 September 8pm. This will give me enough time to process the data and prepare the submissions detailed below. It would be fantastic if at least 1,000 of you could participate.
On Thursday, 29 August 2024, I was asked to submit a report to the Federal Government’s House Standing Committee on Employment, Education, and Training. This committee is examining the digital transformation of workplaces, focusing on the benefits and risks of automated decision-making and machine learning in work environments. The submission is due by Friday, 13 September 2024, and I plan to include insights from our group, as we’re directly affected by rideshare apps—especially with their constantly changing rules—and the recent introduction of automated ticketless fines by local councils which are being issued through Vehicle Compliance Technology in cars and fixed cameras in areas like Glenelg.
Additionally, on Friday, the government released its review and recommendations for the taxi, Access Cab, chauffeur, and rideshare industries. I believe rideshare drivers have not been given a proper opportunity to provide official feedback on this review. It’s crucial that we share our perspectives, and I aim to present your views from this survey to the Minister by 16 September.
