For different people, different motions are harder or easier so it is good to have many options for how a toy can be controlled. Joysticks also offer four different movement directions where one switch will only offer one. Joysticks are best for toys such as cars, or other directional toys.
To the right is a Joystick that straps on to a child's hand so that someone who may not have grip strength but still has motion in the hand can play with a toy.
Here you can see a prototype and later, more refined version of a joystick which can be controlled using a chin. Also pictured (in blue) are cad models.
