Scholarships and Costs for Courses
You do not pay immediately for your courses as a dual credit student.
If you are not using a scholarship for all your dual credit classes (or you are unsure), it is recommended to begin budgeting/saving approximately $300 per class (for a 3 hour class) to prepare for your upcoming tuition bill.
Please read carefully below to learn about how dual credit payments work.
Dual credit courses cost $93 per credit hour, 50% of KCTCS regular tuition rate. Textbooks, lab fees, and digital textbooks are not covered by scholarships.
For example, an ENG 101 course or MAT 150 course is 3 credit hours. This will cost 279.00 if not covered by a scholarship, plus any digital or regular textbook costs.
Dual Credit students bills will go out in October/Nov (fall) or March/April (spring).
The amount on your bill in student service at the beginning of the semester does not reflect the dual credit discount, but the reduced rate will be on your bill in October or March.
You may not register for courses the next semester if you have a balance due on your account. This includes any money still owed for books or lab fees.
Payment may be made the following ways:
Dual Credit Scholarship (see below for more information on scholarships)
Work Ready Scholarship (see below for more information on scholarships)
Some school districts cover the tuition cost for students--ask your counselor if you believe this is the case for you.
Student's family pays for the course.
