The Freda Bennett Carnival is a held at Lyneham Hockey Centre, ACT in February each year
The Freda Bennett Carnival is a fantastic opportunity for players, umpires and those keen to be involved in Masters Hockey to spend a weekend playing hockey together.
This event relies on volunteers – if you are interested in umpiring or helping over the weekend please complete this umpire and helper form .
The Freda Bennett Carnival is usually run as a round-robin with 3 divisions, depending on numbers will be run over 3 days, Friday to Sunday.
We encourage any O34+ and O40s interested playing at the National Tournament to play Div 1.
Firstly Players will need to pay 2023 ACT Women's Masters Membership ($5) and 2023 HA levy, using the button below. It will show $5, if you have already paid HA levy, when you go to the next window it will deduct the levy leaving $5.50 + processing fee.
All players need to register and pay through the Player Registration link above ($55+ admin fee).
Note, there has been no increase in fees this year.
ACT Women's Masters Membership covers administrative and additional costs incurred in running events and sending teams to tournaments.
Games will be 2 x 15 min halves. Whole draw at bottom of this page when it has been confirmed.
The 3 fields at Lyneham will be used. Some games will commence from 5.30pm Friday night 2022.
As there will be time allocated for watering, the start times will be offset resulting in some divisions may not play on all turfs.
Game results will be entered into Revolutionise (see link above) so you will be able to see all results and game times online.

How much the player fee will be? Still to be confirmed approx. $55-60 + ACT Women's Masters Annual Membership $5
Umpire payment Umpires were paid, $10 per game, games 2 x 15min games in 2022.

Dates and times of the days: The event will run over 3 days, Friday 25th from 5.30pm - 8.30pm, Saturday 8.00am - 7.00pm, Sunday 8.00am - 3.00pm

All injuries need to be reported on the Injury Report Form, and if possible to member of the committee notified.
Division 1: Average Hoes (Winners), Alishia Nolan - Player of Division
Division 2: Bayer Birds (Winners), Jill Millan - Player of Division
Division 3: Odd Sox 2 (Winners), Jenny Thomas - Player of Division
37 teams played in 3 divisions (89 games over Friday night, Saturday and Sunday).
About 470 players from 30 - 76 (+ couple of underage special exemptions).
Average age 49.
Players from Adelaide, Brisbane, Gold Coast, Northern NSW, Armidale, Dubbo, Albury Area and Far South Coast and all the areas in between.
Lots of umpires and Tech Official on the benches without whom the weekend would not have run
Many Volunteers doing all the jobs that make a weekend like this run.
