A cognitive functioning assessment evaluates a person’s mental abilities across several domains, often to identify their cognitive strengths and weaknesses in order to guide treatment, rehabilitation, intervention and/or educational planning. Our Psychologists can diagnose a range of learning difficulties individuals may be facing and provide recommendations to assist them.
What is assessed?
In a cognitive assessment the following areas are explored: Perceptual Reasoning, Working Memory, Processing Speed and Verbal Comprehension. These sub-test scores culminate in producing a Full Scale IQ score. Additionally, we also test one's reading, writing, spelling and numeracy ability.
We can undertake Cognitive Functioning assessments with individuals who experience visual and/or hearing impairments, dementia, brain injuries and motor neuron disease. Additionally, we are also able to complete assessments via an Interpreter or Translator if required.
